Petersfield raced to Hursley Park to play their re-arranged game with their 'A' who had cancelled our game earlier in the season due to player availability, Hursley Park won the toss and elected to bat.

We know that Hursley Park 'A' are a strong team and Sophie Butcher and Millie Chatterley both started well, taking lots of quick singles and aided by two dropped chances in the field. After their retirement Genevieve Marshall removed Louise Bucknall for a quick 17 and Petersfield did manage to slow the run rate with some accurate bowling from Aiofe O'Sullivan and Ellie Collins. Isabel Prendergast also retired as Hursley Park reached 157 from their 20 overs. Petersfield did bowl with more accuracy this week with Gen being the pick of the bowlers bowling 4 overs for 1 wicket and 20 runs.

In reply Petersfield knew that they had to dig deep especially as they are not used to batting on an astroturf pitch. Millie Green departed early as did Eleanor Furse but Gen started to form a partnership with Izzy Russell, Gen being particularly brave when being stuck on the helmet by a fast beamer. When Gen departed for 7 and Lilly gray followed scoring 4 Sophie Reid joined Izzy for her debut and after a shaky start started to find her confidence hitting 4 boundaries before she was bowled for 20. Meanwhile at the other end Izzy built a solid innings, defending against the opening bowlers before she opened her shoulders, playing some lovely shots scoring 6 4's before retiring including two lovely consecutive 4's from the returning opening bowler. Aoife and Ellie then also scored some of their 1st runs of the season with Aiofe also showing courage after taking 4 balls to the thigh before Izzy returned in the last over to take her score to 29 not out cementing her position as the 2nd highest league run scorer this year. Petersfield finished on 89 for 6 but can take a lot from their performance yesterday.
