Panthers won the toss at a cold and windy Purbrook park .Captain, Harry Roots, decided to bowl.

Alfie opened the bowling with James keeping wicket. The opening batters struggled with Alfies pace, James did not. With cat like reactions, James took a series of pacy deliveries safely in the gloves. Panthers moved through the bowling line up as Purbrook started to move through the gears. Grace returned the best bowling figures of the innings, giving away only 12 runs, 2 wides, and bowling a delivery that saw the batter back away and hit his stumps. Well done Grace! Purbrook continued with their heavy hitting and ended up with a total of 166/2.

Alfie and Max took to the field to open the batting. They bravely faced a barrage of very quick bowling. Max in particular was on the receiving end of some rather fruity full tosses, taking one delivery on the back of his helmet. Next up were James and Trystan. Trystan making his full debut in a hard ball match. Again, the bowling from Purbrook was fast and accurate. However, the communication between James and Trystan was excellent, allowing us to pinch some quick singles plus a sublime boundary from James. Harry and Grace next. Grace, also in her debut faced down 14 balls without fear. The pair scoring 4 a piece, Harry's 4 coming from a well timed pull shot to the boundary. Finally, Daniel and Adem. Daniel took to the field with only one thing on his mind. Hit everything, wides, no balls, good balls! A fantastic innings followed. 4 from his first ball, another 2 boundaries and a total of 19. Adem, in his first hardball match scored 5 runs with some exceptional communication with Daniel. Squeezing every single they could out of the game.

Panthers can hold their heads up high. Scoring a total of 111 against a very good team is an amazing achievement. I was incredibly proud of the way they played and conducted themselves.
