Another hot day confronted the ladies 1st XI as they travelled to Fair Oak for their 2nd league match of the season following last week's 136 run win against Compton and Chandlers Ford. Fair Oak won the toss and despite a difficult batting performance last week decided to bat first.
Georgie Russell opened up and dismissed Fair Oak skipper Emma Wheble with the 3rd ball of the day, Fair Oak steadied the ship but dismissals in the 5th and 6th overs by Russell again and Holly Haynes left Fair Oak in trouble at 17 for 3. Captain Izzy Russell cycled through her bowling options, Simone Hellyer had Chloe Trott caught and bowled for a resistant 8 and Lily George followed up with her usual accuracy clean bowling Maisie Ashton shortly afterwards, Kate Harfield also bowled with accuracy on debut. Only loanee Darcy Harrington offered any resistance but when she was smartly run out by the combination of Millie Green and keeper Izzy Russell for 14 it just left Simone Hellyer to wrap up the Fair Oak innings for 57 in 14.2 overs.
After returnee Sophie Trewin declined the option to open the batting the usual pair of Izzy and Georgie Russell strode to the crease. They ran well and took the boundaries when the opportunities arose scoring 8 fours between them to complete the win with Petersfield scoring 59 without loss in 6.4 overs with Georgie 31 not out from just 22 deliveries.
Let's keep this momentum going Ladies.
