With last week's game washed out, Petersfield 1XI returned to the glorious looking Heath and put on a clinical performance for the newly installed YouTube cameras, securing a massive 259-run victory over Wickham CC.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Petersfield got off to a flier. Young Archie Maclean providing this initial impetus with a brisk 28 (including five boundaries) before falling to Wickham's returning opening bowler to leave the score 83-1 off 11 overs. However, his departure brought 16-year-old Georgie Russell to the crease to join captain Henry Shore, sparking what would become an historic afternoon. The pair shared a mammoth 274-run unbeaten partnership, both recording their highest scores for the 1st XI. Shore moved through the gears and, as Wickham tired, attacked to end up on 186 off 138 balls, a knock featuring 29 fours and 2 sixes. At the other end, Russell showed maturity beyond her years, anchoring the innings with a classy 81 not out in her maiden 1XI innings to steer Petersfield to a formidable total of 357-1. A few more overs and a maiden Petersfield hundred would have been there for the taking!

Faced with a mountain to climb, Wickham’s chase never gaot off the ground. While their opener fought hard for a top score of 42, the Petersfield bowling unit proved too disciplined to handle and he received little support. Joe Clarke set the tone early with 2-44, but it was youngsters Oscar Walker and Adam Kidd who ripped through the middle order, finishing with impressive figures of 3-28 and 2-9 respectively! Adam's Dad, Stuart, also got in on the action to remove Wickham's top scorer before Chris Russell wrapped up the innings with his first ball of the game, leaving Wickham all out for 98.

Maximum points and an impressive all-round performance. The 1XI will now travel to Eastleigh next week looking to back up this performance.
