Welcome to the 2026 season

Welcome to the 2026 season

Chris Russell19 Apr - 10:48

The sun is shining and we are already underway

Hi All,

I wanted to welcome you to the 2026 season which is now already underway with our second pre-season friendly taking place at Hambledon today.

I'm really pleased to let you know that we are running an incredible 17 teams this season in addition to our All Stars and Dynamos cricket, this is testament to all of the volunteer coaches and managers that make cricket happen every week.

We have also been working hard over the winter - the work does not stop and I'm thankful to the committee members that keep working throughout the winter to move the club forwards. This off season we have replaced the roof tiles, flat roofs and upstairs cladding on the Heath pavilion and added the security bollards to the entrance of the Heath ground which was no mean feat with the wet start to the year. These projects represent an investment of over £40,000 and we are thankful that these were part funded by grants from the England and Wales Cricket Board via the Hampshire Cricket Board, East Hampshire District Council and individual councilors, Petersfield Town Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner with the balance made up from club funds and individual donations.

In addition to this we now have a working pavilion clock for the first time in my time at the club courtesy of the Mark Vincent memorial donations - we will get the time right before anyone messages me!

We now have a replacement mower which is new to us but not new, thanks here to the Petersfield Town Council Community Chest scheme who made the funds available.

All thanks to the grants team on the committee from their tireless work in making all of this happen - it takes a lot longer than you think.

Another thank you must go to Dan Martin who works, largely on his own unless I am bothering him, throughout the winter to make sure that both of our grounds are ready for the season, if you haven't been down to the grounds yet both are looking in prime condition.

Finally I must thank this years sponsors. LGW continue to sponsor our senior shirts and covers and are always amenable in our hour of need, Alitex sponsor our junior and coaches shirts, The Spice Lounge sponsor our stumps and the sleeve of our senior shirts and we are thankful to Hausmaids who sponsor our pavilion and bar - your generosity and support of a local, volunteer led sports club is really appreciated.

Good luck with the season ahead, go well all.

Chris.
