10 days after the Girls Under 13s played their last league game, the girls were officially crowned league Champions!
Having won their last game against Havant, the U13s had to wait as Hambledon had 2 games left and could overtake the girls if they won both. Unfortunately for Hambledon (but fortunately for us!), Hambledon had 1 game abandoned from their last 2 which meant they couldn't catch our girls and so we won the league at the first time of trying.
This is an amazing achievement from the girls in so many ways. It's the first time the majority of these girls had played hard ball and 'proper rules' cricket, we don't actually have anyone in our group that is an U13 (the group consists of U12, U11 and U10s) and we regularly played against sides with numerous county players (we have 1). To add to this amazing season we also got to the Cup 1/4 Final where we competed really well against a strong Grayshott side.
I won't go into the stats for the season so not to ruin the end of season awards but there is one stat as a coach that I am really proud of! We had a squad this season of 17 girls and all 17 played a part in the amazing season playing at least one game and contributing. We regularly played against teams that would only pick girls that were 'ready' for games but I want to make sure the girls get this match experience to put their training into practice - it will only benefit them in my eyes.
Congratulations again to all the girls and thank you to all the parents for your commitment throughout the season.
